Meursault Premier Cru Genevrières, Chavy-Chouet
Meursault Premier Cru Genevrières, Chavy-Chouet - Romaric Chavy took over from his father Hubert at just 22years old and now run 15 of hectares of vines in Meursault and in different appellations of the Cote de Beaune. One of his first decisions was to start bottling specific vineyards under the Domaine's name - as opposed to send grapes to negotiants. He invested in a spacious new winery, and improved the range year on year. Herbicides and pesticides were abandoned, with only copper and sulphur additions when necessary.
His Meursault wines neither follow the current trend for razor-sharp minerality, nor the 'butter and hazelnut' over-oaked Meursaults of the past. Instead, he found the soft-spot for lean, precise wines that do not shy away from their natural unctuosity and generosity. Les Genevrières is an exceptional Premier Cru with a high mineral content on limestone and clay. Perfectly exposed slope due East / South-East, its name comes from the juniper bushes that used to be found there. A terroir that sits at the vey top of the Meursault quality scale, along with Les Perrières and Les Charmes.
