Aksou, Mas Lou
Olivier and Adèle set out on their own in Faugères after years of working the vines. As well as Coume del Mas and Mas Cristine, they have worked harvests in Spain, Chile, and Bordeaux before starting Mas Lou in 2014. Olivier’s first love is the vines, and would far prefer to be among them than In the winery.
Their 8ha sits between 200 and 400m above sea level giving a cooling freshness to the wines that others in the region struggle to achieve. The quantities are tiny, and the French wine press has started to take notice of just how delicious the wines are.
Aksou is made from a blend of Syrah and Grenache at a range of sites between 300-400m altitude.
Producer Mas Lou
Viticulture & Winemaking Organic viticulture. Grapes are hand-harvested, and fermented together in stainless steel vats through indigenous yeasts. The wine is then finished with little intervention and low S02.
Grapes Syrah and Grenache

Tasting Notes A generous palate of juicy black fruits, balsamic and thyme. The schist terroir is expressive and shows a graphite note on the finish.
