Le Jouet Blanc, Domaine des Enfants
When Marcel Bühler takes over 25 hectares of old vines in Maury back in 2006, he knew he was onto something really special. Over half of the vineyard had been planted pre-WW2, and some vines are now over a century-old. His philosophy is pretty straightforward: let nature do its thing while respecting the work of generations of vignerons before him. His wife Carrie Sumner takes over in the cellar, where everything is kept to a minimum. No commercial yeasts, no additions or filtration, no fining, just a touch of SO2 when necessary.
The deep rooted vines in schist and granitic soil produce concentrated, rich and complex grapes as yields are kept as low as 10hl/ha. The majority of the vineyards is planted with Grenache Noir, the grape behind Maury's local port-like wine. Everything is done by hand, with an extreme dedication to selecting and sorting the healthiest and best grapes possible. The results are beautiful, rich, honest and expressive wines that represent their region and the people who made them.

Tasting Notes Complex and rich - don't let its playful name fool you. Ripe pear and lemon rid on the nose, some brioche and clotted cream. Silky and round, with a touch of hay, fennel and herbs.
